(Before you take to the comments to disprove my claims by saying that multitasking works for you, I know this isn&rsquo t the case for everyone but it is for most people. If you can juggle tasks and still give each one the time and deep thought it deserves, great. Go for it.)

Strategic planning is not a secret formula, Brett. I mean you can find any number of checklists on the web that will take any family, any business or any government entity through a process to get you where you want to achieve. The US military and our allies had gotten really lazy in the prospects about thinking about war, we show over and over again that when we could get into a fight, we win the fight, and we can win every fight, but lose the entire war, because we don 8767 t think through the long term.
When I was a year old, my mom and dad took me and did a, no kidding, overnight escape out of the country. They made their way to Paris, and then on to Los Angeles. I grew up in a working class home, where my mom and dad both. My dad worked two jobs. I played football in high school and decided to go to the Air Force Academy after a recruiting visit there.
Tom : We go through life, whether it 8767 s in a family, or whether it 8767 s in a small business, or whether it 8767 s in county government, or whether it 8767 s in a large military, starting operations, without having actually listed and challenged and validating your assumptions.
Critical thinking has become education’s bull’s-eye, a target that, if achieved, will cue up a chorus and win us universal approval. We’ve been tasked with ensuring that students develop critical-thinking skills and then continue to improve their ability to use them.
How do you teach critical thinking in your classroom? Do you have any teaching strategies that can help students learn this important life skill? Feel free to share with us in the comment section below. We would love to hear your ideas.
Thanks Dr. Marilyn -Your post is still relevant today as it was years ago. Now more than ever CT is important your children and preschool/early elementary parents need the more support. At CT Foundation 8767 s conference there was a roundtable discussion on the following topic: We had a great discussion and anyone interested in the summary notes can reach out on FB.
Brett : I really appreciate that. Let 8767 s start with your story, because it 8767 s really interesting. You are, right now, an expert and consultant on strategic planning and critical thinking. How do you get to this point? You actually have a pretty interesting background story. Can you get us up to date on how you got to where you are now?
One of the easiest and most effective ways to get children to think critically is to brainstorm. Regardless of subject, have students think about what they’ll be doing, learning, or reading— before actually starting each activity. Ask a lot questions, like “What do you think this book will be about?” Or “Tell me three things you think you will be learning in this lesson about space?” Give students every opportunity you can to be critical thinkers.
There 8767 s a grate Harvard Business Review article from 7559 on the innovator 8767 s DNA. It 8767 s called the Innovator 8767 s DNA. It talks about the top CEO 8767 s are those guys that go around and look at not just their businesses and their segment of industry, but other segments of industry, or other industries altogether.
Tom : Sure. In some ways, I 8767 ve lived almost a Forest Gump like life. I mean I 8767 ve been in the right place at the right time, not of my own doing necessarily, but providence puts you there, and I think a lot of times, you make the most of your opportunity.
